Product Description

Meet the Avalon Q – 90 TH/s of SHA-256 grunt

Looking for a sensible way into Bitcoin mining without the jumbo electricity bill? The Avalon Q hits a sweet spot: solid 90 TH/s hash rate, sipping just 1.67 kW, and whisper-quiet enough to park in a spare room. I’ve had one humming beside a chest freezer all week and barely noticed the fan spin-ups.

    Why miners pick this rig

    1. Respectable efficiency for the rand. At ~19 J/TH you’re edging close to the big boys without splashing out on hydro gear.

    2. Tame acoustics. 50 dB is office-fan territory, not jet-engine scream.

    3. Plug-and-play firmware. Standard Avalon dashboard – no weird SSH gymnastics.

What it’s like to live with

Power wise, you’ll need a single 16 A circuit (C20 plug works). Noise is a steady whoosh; I’d stash it in a scullery or garage, but it won’t rattle dishes. Setup took me ten minutes – DHCP picked it up, changed the pool URL, done. Temperature stayed under 70 °C in a Joburg winter evening; I reckon it’ll hash happily down to about 10 °C, but I’ve not tested below that.

Simple setup steps

  1. Unbox, check for transit dings.

  2. Plug C20 to a 16 A breaker, Ethernet to your router.

  3. Power on; find the IP in your DHCP table.

  4. Log in (admin / admin), set pool & wallet.

  5. Hit “Save & Apply”. Sit back, watch shares roll in.

FAQs

Q: Does it need 240 V?
A: It’s happy on 110–240 V, but stick to a stable 230 V circuit for best efficiency.

Q: Can I stack them?
A: Yes, just leave a 10 cm air gap – side intakes love fresh air.

Q: Firmware mods supported?
A: Stock Avalon OS only; custom builds void the warranty we give.

Q: How loud is 50 dB really?
A: Picture two tower PCs under a desk. That’s about it.

Q: Can I pay in BTC?
A: Absolutely – we settle orders in ZAR, BTC, or USDT.
